UNIVERSAL MUSIC AND B'IN MUSIC TO BREAK TOP TAIWANESE ARTISTS ACROSS CHINA
Mainland music fans are treated to more Chinese-language pop choices
Beijing/Hong Kong, September 30, 2010: Universal Music Group (UMG), the world's leading music company, will promote and distribute Taiwanese pop artists signed to B'in Music throughout China in a new agreement announced today by Sunny Chang, Managing Director of Universal Music Greater China.
Established in 2006, B'in Music was founded by Ason Chen in Taipei. B'in Music's core business consists of record production, marketing, promotion, artist management, merchandising and concert production. The company's vision — to create unique, new content — has helped solidify its strong position in the Chinese entertainment and independent-music industry. B'in Music's top artists includes Mayday, Rene Liu and Victor Wong, who have enjoyed incredible popularity across Greater China. The label is also known for breaking new talents, such artists Della and Yen J, who have already amassed a following of younger fans.
Universal Music and B'in Music's new partnership, which is effective on October 1, features two main components:
* Universal Music will distribute B'in Music catalogue in Taiwan;
* Universal Music will now also market, distribute and sell B'in Music's repertoire across Mainland China and Asia, excluding Singapore.
Says Sunny Chang: "B'in Music's pop artist roster is so fresh, young and talented. We're excited to help promote these stars across the Mandarin-language markets in our region and, in particular, China, whose music fans are always searching for new artists to explore and adore."
Ason Chen, Founder of B'in Music, adds: "B'in Music and Taiwanese pop are ready to enter a new era with Universal Music. We're looking forward to expanding our horizons with our new partner — and especially getting in touch with more Mainland music fans."
Sandy Monteiro, President of Universal Music South East Asia, says: "We have a determined vision to keep growing our business in China, by strengthening our A&R and business-alliance strategies. Our relationship with B'in Music is certainly in line with this, and we look forward to offering even more artists and repertoire to Chinese music fans."
This agreement is the latest update to UMG's long-term strategy of strengthening its presence in China's fast-expanding music market. Recent partnerships – including the recent fourth contract renewal with Taiwan's Linfair Records, to continue promoting its artists across the Mainland – are part of Universal Music's overall drive to find and develop the best talent in Greater China.
