UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING GROUP UNVEILS NEW BRAND IDENTITY
TO AMPLIFY THE IMPORTANCE OF SONGWRITERS AND THE TEAMS BEHIND THEM

LOS ANGELES, June 9, 2026 — Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) today unveiled its new brand identity, establishing a distinctive voice, visual system, and global positioning centered on the cultural importance and influence of songs and songwriters. This new identity is brought to life in the redesigned UMPG website.

“Everything in music starts with a songwriter. Great songs transcend generations, geographies, and formats long after trends fade. Our new brand is about celebrating the enduring power of songwriting and giving it a clear voice, a lasting home, and a stronger future. It’s an open, evolving identity dedicated to songs, songwriters, and the people behind them; taking on new meaning wherever music goes,” said Jody Gerson, Chairman & CEO, UMPG.

The new logo is bold and simple, while being deliberately open to different interpretation. As a symbol, it represents the four corners of the planet—standing for a worldwide community of songwriters and reflecting how UMPG’s reach helps great songs travel across borders and cultures. The circular space at the center of the logo can also serve as a camera frame for songwriters, highlighting their talent and creativity at the heart of the cultural conversation.

The new UMPG brand identity is a complete, colorful toolkit, uniting UMPG’s global teams and enabling each area of the business to articulate its role in protecting and amplifying songwriters. In addition to the new logo and visuals, the identity includes a purpose statement: Universal Music Publishing Group exists to advance the collaborative, personal, human act of creating songs. We get songs heard. We get songwriters paid. Wherever songs go, We are a world ahead.

Coinciding with the rollout of its new brand identity, UMPG is introducing Publishing 101 beginning June 16. Designed to demystify the world of music publishing, the short-form videos feature members of UMPG’s global team explaining key aspects of the business—from A&R and sync licensing to royalties and administration—while providing an inside look at how music publishers support songwriters at every stage of their careers. New videos will be posted each Tuesday at 9 a.m. PT across UMPG’s digital and social platforms, including umpg.com, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

The UMPG brand identity was developed with GrandArmy, the award winning, multi-disciplinary creative agency, which has also worked with a diversity of brands including A24, NPR, Adidas, Lonely Planet among others. UMPG’s internal Audio Branding team also developed a unique sonic identity for the animated version of the logo.
