The Ride Keeps Getting Better for Sugarland
It's been quite a year for Sugarland. The duo is keeping it up right through the end of 2007. Their latest album, Enjoy the Ride, has just been certified double-platinum (domestic sales of 2 Million) by the RIAA.
The first single from Enjoy the Ride, “Want To,” went to No. 1 last year and helped the CD debut at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart. The second single, “Settlin,” also topped the country singles chart and a follow-up single, “Everyday America,” climbed into the top 10 on that chart. Recently, Sugarland’s emotional video for “Stay,” also from Enjoy the Ride, has struck a chord with fans around the country.
Sugarland is spicing up Christmas for their fans this year as they release five holiday songs for an exclusive Wal-Mart edition of Enjoy the Ride, with one original co-written by Kristian Bush.
According to GAC, Kristian says he used to record Christmas songs and give them as gifts to friends and family, but now he does it for himself and has fun with it. "Historically, I have given my family — when I was at the height of my poverty as a musician — I would give them recordings of myself and my friends, whoever I could talk into recording Christmas songs. As it became more and more affordable to give them a CD, it became the gift that a lot of my friends would look forward to every year. It helps me get in the spirit in that last two or three weeks. We had a really good time."
