Ludacris' Appetite for Success
As an award-winning artist, talent-developing CEO and emerging actor Chris "Ludacris" Bridges is quite familiar with combining his intelligence, abilities and entrepreneurial drive in order to shine in any situation. Bridges started his streak-of-success nearly 10 years ago when the music industry took notice of his independently released album, Incognegro. He was quickly scooped up by Def Jam Recordings and has grown to be recognized as one of the premier names in all of music.
As if running a label (Disturbing Tha Peace Recordings, LLC. - alongside Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon), raising the musical bar with perennial solo albums and dabbling in film and TV weren't enough, Ludacris begins 2008 following in the steps of moguls like Shawn "JAY-Z" Carter and Sean "Diddy" Combs --- restaurant ownership.
"I don't generally speak about it," Ludacris told MSNBC. "I keep it to myself... [I'm] an entrepreneur outside of music." Though Luda wouldn't mind if some of his extra-curricular endeavors flew under the radar, success has a way of generating its own attention.
Bridges plans on opening 3 venues with restaurant tycoon Chris Yeo. The first of which will fill Bridges' recently purchased 5,200-square-foot space in downtown Atlanta. It will be part of Yeo's "Straits" restaurant chain - his first endeavor outside of California.
Chicken lollipops and watermelon martinis aren't the only things piquing Luda's appetite - 2008 will also bring fans the 3rd installment to the DTP compilation catalog (Read "'Strength In Numbers', Proof in Plaques"). The album will feature industry newcomers Serious Jones and Steph Jones and DTP heavyweights Chingy and Bobby V and, of course, Ludacris.

Be it earning a recording deal from one of the most prolific Hip-Hop labels ever, Def Jam Recordings, igniting the successful careers of artists like Bobby V and Chingy, or pushing the envelope as the controversial character, Darius Randall, in a recent episodes of Law and Order: SVU Ludacris has the blueprint to success perfected.
