Taylor Swift On The Cover Of Rolling Stone Magazine!
Taylor Swift, the country music phenomenon, seems to be on the fast track to superstardom. Her debut album Fearless, has enjoyed 9 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The last album to have more success than Swift’s Fearless was Carlos Santana’s 1999 album Supernatural, which held the No. 1 position for 12 weeks.
Furthermore, Swift not only made history last month by being the youngest musical guest on NBC’s Saturday Night Live in the show’s 32 year run; but also appeared on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine – which hit newsstands yesterday (Feb. 18th).
In an interview with Rolling Stone’s reporter Vanessa Grigoriadis, Swift was quoted as having said “I would always have a dream that’s attainable and then as I’ve achieved more I would set different goals, I’m totally freaking out because all these things are happening like being on SNL and being on the cover of Rolling Stone.”
Many young female music sensations, like Britney Spears, began their music careers by presenting themselves as young and innocent - as a means to attain parental approval and boost their record sales. Grigoriadis argues that this is not the case with Swift, who she describes as truly a “good girl.” The reporter continued by writing, ”For whatever reason she’s [Swift] never felt a need to rebel from those values and that’s cool… She really is that girl in the tiny little bedroom at home writing songs about the things she hopes and dreams and feels.”
