3 Doors Down Release a Video for Their Smash, "It's Not My Time"
(New York, NY, April 18, 2000) Universal Republic multi-platinum rock fivesome, 3 Doors Down, has scored the #1 Most Added Record at Top 40 Radio this week, capping a maelstrom of activity surrounding the acclaimed rock band as they ready their new self-titled CD for a May 20 release date. Their new single, “It’s Not My Time,” has become an across-the board smash, touching down as ‘08’s biggest rock radio hit so far, with the debut single becoming one of the fastest moving songs at Active Rock radio this decade.
Already touted as the #1 most added song at Alternative radio for nearly a month running, the band has just completed a groundbreaking video by acclaimed director Shaun Silva. Known for unfolding videos via storytelling, Silva, who has shot videos with Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson and Sugarland among others, was eager to work with 3 Doors. Filmed in Cincinnati, OH while the band was on tour last month, the video features a much heralded ‘movement’ technique called ‘Parkouring.’
Parkouring has become a growing subculture phenomenon via youtube, and was first discovered by a WWI French Naval officer during his experiences with the indigenous tribes of Africa. The Officer spent time studying people who were able to combine their natural physical skills with quickness-of-body techniques designed to gain ground with the least amount of energy expended. Currently considered a respected discipline ala the marital arts, Parkour practitioners often utilize the technique as a time-saving maneuver during emergencies. The band’s desire to shed a light on Parkouring is the first time this mysterious practice will be featured in a music video.
3 Doors Down has also embarked on a series of U.S. and European shows in support of their new self-titled album, heading out across the U.S. in early April, with performances in Bakersfield CA, on April 19, and Tulsa OK, on April 20, continuing on through the rest of April and most of May. 3 Doors will wind things down in the US in Indianapolis IN, on May 24 before venturing to the UK for a week of dates commencing on May 30. The spring itinerary will also include a show in Holland and an early July special live event in Oahu, Hawaii.
Besides being monsters of the road and video innovators, 3DD also broke with convention when writing the songs for the new album, holing up in a Nashville cabin together until the songs were completed and then hightailing it down to Orlando, FL, to record the new CD with producer Johnny K. (he also helmed Seventeen Days).
3 Doors Down has already attracted a global buzz, with talk of other choice tracks such as the adrenalin-fueled “Train,” and the rousing “It’s The Only One You’ve Got,” hinting at more hits to come from the Mississippi icons. A worthy follow-up to their #1 debut album, 2005’s Seventeen Days, 3 Doors Down has put together an amazing streak of powerful albums and chart-topping singles, including their 6 million selling 2000 breakthrough effort, The Better Life, with mega-hit signature songs such as the #1 single “Kryptonite,” and “When I’m Gone,” from 2003’s 4 million selling epic Away From The Sun.
