JONAS BROTHERS CHOOSE UNIVERSAL MUSIC FOR GLOBAL DEAL
LONDON, April 10, 2013 – The week after the release of “Pom Poms”, the first single from their hotly anticipated, upcoming and as yet untitled album, pop trio Jonas Brothers have announced a worldwide licensing deal with Universal Music Group. The deal, excluding US, will oversee the band’s fifth studio album, slated for release later this year, and also includes catalogue recordings for both group and solo albums.
The new album is described by the band as an “electrifying combination of pop, rock, classic R&B, techno and dance genres.” The siblings starting writing the material themselves in a studio set up by Nick Jonas in his New York apartment. The album was then recorded at the legendary Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, and produced by Nick Jonas. It will be released under the band’s own label, Jonas Enterprises.
After selling more than 20 million records and garnering over 40 Gold and Platinum certifications in the process, the Jonas Brothers took a break from the band to pursue individual creative projects. During their time apart Nick has starred on Broadway, Joe released a solo album and Kevin became a reality show star on E!’s “Married to Jonas”.
The Jonas Brothers treated fans to a preview of their new material at exclusive shows at New York City's Radio City Music Hall and the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles last year. Following a 16-city tour of Latin America earlier this year, the band has recently announced their US tour dates.
“We are really excited about this new chapter in our career and looking forward to working with the team at Universal Music to deliver our music to a global audience,” said the Jonas Brothers.
Andrew Kronfeld, President, Global Marketing, Universal Music Group International (UMGI), commented, “The Jonas Brothers are part of the pop music industry’s bedrock and we’re delighted they’ve chosen us to support their welcome return.”
Max Hole, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UMGI, added “We are very pleased to welcome the Jonas Brothers back to Universal Music. Our teams loved working with them in the past and look forward to helping them to a major success with their new album.”
Jonas Brothers are exclusively managed by Johnny Wright for Wright Entertainment Group, Philip McIntyre for PhilyMack Inc. and Kevin Jonas, Sr. for Jonas Enterprises.
