"Strength In Numbers", Proof In Plaques
DTP, a hip-hop crew for nearly 15 years and record label for nearly a decade, is set to release their third compilation album, Strength In Numbers, later this year. With anticipation fueled by the success of artists like Ludacris, Bobby V, Chingy and Playaz Circle and the recent signings of talents such as Steph Jones and Serius Jones, DTP is sure to follow the success of their previous 2 compilations, Golden Grain and Ludacris Presents: Disturbing Tha Peace. The album was set to be released in September '07, but got pushed back due to the success of the Playaz Circle ("Duffle Bag Boy") and Chingy (“Fly Like Me”). The forthcoming album will be another platform to display the talent-brimming DTP roster - almost every track on Strength In Numbers will be a collaboration of two or more DTP artists.
Check out the video for “Down in The Dirty”, DTP’s latest single from the forthcoming album.
In addition to multi-platinum DTP core artists Ludacris (who is also a CEO of the label), Bobby Valentino and Chingy the new compilation stars: Block Xchange, Brolic D (of Norfclk), Field Mob (Smoke & Shawn Jay), I-20, Serius Jones, Steph Jones, Lil Fate, Playaz Circle (Titi Boy and Dolla Boy), Shareefa, Shawnna, Small World (of Norfclk) and Willy Northpole.
The roots of the Disturbing Tha Peace (Lil Fate, Ludacris, I-20, Shawnna, Titty Boy and DJ JC) trace back to Benjamin E. Banneker H.S. in the College Park section of Atlanta, GA. Lil Fate (a transplant from Tampa, FL) and Ludacris were classmates. A shared respect for hip-hop and lyricism got them into mutual mischief. "I was like the freestyle fanatic on the South Side of College Park," Fate recalls. "That's how Chris learned about me. I did the talent shows and we would skip class. I would miss history to make history."
Strength In Numbers should follow the success of DTPs 1st 2 compilations. Ludacris Presents: Disturbing Tha Peace was released in late 2005. The first single from the album, "Georgia", by Ludacris and Field Mob featuring Jamie Foxx, featured a full orchestra and Jamie Foxx singing Ray Charles-esque octaves. The second single was Shawnna's "Gettin' Some", which was one of the most successful ringtones of 2006. Disturbing Tha Peace released their first compilation, Golden Grain, in 2002. The album featured Shawnna, I-20, Tity Boi, Lil Fate, DJ JC and Ludacris.
Armed with lyrics, experience, character, beats and sex appeal, DTP is poised for the full-frontal assault with their 3rd LP, Strength In Numbers. More than just intoxicating lyrics and 808 beats, this collection is designed to rock clubs and stages (and haters) from Atlanta to Tokyo. "That's how strong a clique we are," declares Ludacris. "It¹s like 100 proof."
Be on the lookout for Strength In Numbers and more hits from Ludacris, Playaz Circle, Chingy and the entire DTP Crew.
