Ludo Breaks Top 10 Single Barrier with "Love Me Dead" at Alternative - Their 1st Career Top 10 Hit
It’s an Olympian feat that only the greatest post-modern indie bands can lay claim to: their first single to crack the Top 10 on a national chart. So break out the bubbly stuff for Island Records group Ludo, as they sail to #10-bullet on the R&R/BDS Alternative chart with “Love Me Dead.” It’s the first bonafide smash from their major label album debut, You're Awful, I Love You, whose nutty cover artwork (by band member Marshall Fanciullo) will be seen on 333,000 cans of Arizona iced tea.
LAUNCHED! Presents: Ludo
With an alternative radio audience of 3.5 million and a Hot 100 airplay audience of 4 million – backed up by digital sales of more than 72,000 copies – “Love Me Dead” enters its 22nd week on the street determined to win all the chips. TV appearances performing “Love Me Dead” on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live (May 9th) and NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (July 11th) pumped album sales, as You're Awful, I Love You enters its 6th month on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, with a colossal jump this week to #5-bullet (from #15). In addition, Clear Channel Radio named Ludo the Alternative “NEW! Featured Artist”!
On the video tip today (Wednesday), Ludo will be on FUSE’s “No 1 Count Down – Your Warped Picks” at 5:00 p.m. (EST). “Love Me Dead” remains in rotation on FUSE, which taped Ludo’s Warped Tour performance in New Jersey on July 25th. Upcoming, Ludo will appear on MTV’s Cribs, taped this past week at their home in St. Louis (airdate tba).
In Los Angeles this National Woodstock Weekend (Saturday, August 17th), Ludo wraps up the three week Warped Tour ’08 schedule that brought them to 22 North American cities since July 23rd. After a two week break, Ludo returns to the highway for two more months of shows, including four weeks (16 cities) with Relient K, This Providence, and House of Heroes. (Please see tour dates below.)
Ludo – Andrew Volpe (vocals, guitar), Tim Ferrell (guitar, vocals), Tim Convy (Moog synthesizer, keyboards, vocals), Marshall Fanciullo (bass), and Matt Palermo (drums, vocals) – have won A-list visibility across the rock spectrum this summer, with their rebellious wit and cerebral sense of the absurd. The New York Post called “Love Me Dead” “irresistibly catchy and upbeat – largely because of a vitriolic, Jekyll & Hyde attitude toward being in love with someone you actually kinda hate.”
