Hinder's Debut Album, "Extreme Behavior", Hits Triple Platinum
Band Returns to Studio To Begin Work on Sophomore Effort
Rowdy and rollicking Universal Republic rockers Hinder have just received triple platinum notification for their debut album, Extreme Behavior, snagging the coveted 3X-certification from the RIAA as they prepare to head back in to the studio to begin work on their much anticipated follow-up to their breakthrough debut.
Largely viewed as stadium-rock’s new standard bearers, Hinder also blazed new trails in the digital and ringtone arenas, becoming the biggest selling rock artist in the history of the mobile formats, reaching a record breaking 3 million in ringtone sales thanks to their record breaking rock anthem “Lips Of An Angel”, the scorching second single from their 2006 debut effort. The multi-format smash seized the #1 spot on both the Top 40 Pop Radio Chart and the Digital Download Chart, putting the Oklahoma fivesome on the top of multiple radio, video and digital charts, including Yahoo, iTunes, Real/Rhapsody and MSN. The epic anthem has been certified by the RIAA as the first and only triple platinum Mastertone in rock music history. The acclaimed newcomers were also featured as a rip-roaring addition to VH1’s "You Oughta Know" series, which profiles essential new artists for music fans via the Cable TV powerhouse and VH1.com.
As the buzz builds for the hearty batch of new songs slated for their upcoming 2nd album – many of which were road-tested as part of the group’s summer and fall "Bad Boys of Rock" Tour – the determined band has confirmed they will again be working with Extreme Behavior helmsman Brian Howes. Hinder frontman Austin Winkler praised the noted producer as a key figure in capturing Hinder’s raucous sound: “He knows our strengths and works very, very well with everyone in the band.”
With their debut album launching five successful singles, including the multi-format #1 smash “Lips Of An Angel,” Hinder earned a dizzying array of chart-topping honors the past two years. The hit song was also recognized as Active Rock Radio’s most popular rock single of 2006. Extreme Behavior became a mainstay of the Billboard Top 200 Album chart for nearly a year and a half, endearing them to a diverse array of rock fans as Hinder’s climb became one of the most successful grassroots-artist development stories of the decade.
As for what fans can expect on the upcoming album, Winker says they won’t be disappointed. “I actually believe we’re ahead of the game on this one because of all the great experiences we’ve gone through as a band. It’s been quite a rollercoaster ride. We’ve grown as songwriters and have learned so much.”
Hinder is Austin Winkler (vocals), Mark King (guitar), Blower (guitar), Mark Rodden (Bass), Cody Hanson (drums).
