Gabriella Cilmi Plans USA Show, Readies Debut Album "Lessons To Be Learned"
Seventeen year old Australian singer Gabriella Cilmi, who has been hotly tipped by Blender magazine as one of their "Recession Free Picks for 2009", is set to follow in the footsteps of Amy Winehouse and Duffy by performing a lucrative showcase at the annual SXSW music convention in Austin, Texas in March. The teenager with the big voice, who was nominated this week at the BRIT awards for Best International Female Solo Artist, will also release her highly anticipated debut album, Lessons To Be Learned on March 17th to coincide with the performance.
Gabriella is best known for her debut single "Sweet About Me". However, she has admitted she is already working on her second album, and has been getting experimental in the studio. "I toyed with rap on one of my current songs "Save The Lies". It didn’t really work out," confessed the singer "but it hasn’t put me off. I’m going to give it another go for sure... The new material is sounding more R&B."
