Ashton Shepherd's "Sounds So Good" is Music to Media's Ears
NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 12 -- MCA Nashville newcomer Ashton Shepherd's debut album, Sounds So Good, just hit stores everywhere and is creating a buzz unlike any newcomer in years.
Entertainment Weekly says "Shepherd's CD is the best mainstream country debut since Taylor Swift..."
Chet Flippo of CMT describes Shepherd's record as "...the most fully- realized, complete and most mature album by a female country singer-songwriter in years."
USA Today states "Shepherd balances a fondness for music, motherhood and alcohol with a deep drawl and a straight-forwardness learned from the likes of Loretta Lynn..."
Associated Press found a likely comparison. "Her voice is thick and
twangy and her sound is bedrock country." "...she echoes Loretta Lynn..."
American Songwriter's Editor-in-Chief, Doug Waterman, claims "She sings with a distinctly rich, lower-Alabama drawl that will grip you from the outset and make you proud to be a country music fan."
Billboard's Ken Tucker continues "Unabashedly country in production and theme, the set is refreshing, authentic and delightfully un-PC."
Chicago Tribune praises, "Here's what (Ashton) Shepherd has: everything. Humble beginnings that would make even the most rural hillbilly blush. Songwriting chops that move routine country fare up a notch... And the voice."
