OVERVIEW

Capitol Music Group (CMG) is comprised of Capitol Records, Virgin Records, Motown Records, Blue Note Records, Astralwerks, Harvest Records, Capitol Christian Music Group, Atom Factory, and Deep Well Records, as well as Capitol Studios and CMG’s independent label services and distribution division, Caroline.  Capitol Music Group is based in Hollywood, California in the iconic Capitol Records Tower.

  • Blue Note Records

    For 75 years Blue Note Records has represented The Finest In Jazz. Founded in 1939 as an independent label by a German immigrant named Alfred Lion, Blue Note has since traced the entire history of the genre to become the longest-running & most-respected Jazz label in the world. Under the continued leadership of Don Was, Blue Note is the home of the most prominent stars and cutting-edge innovators in Jazz today, while the label has broadened its horizons to include quality music in multiple genres.

  • Capitol Records US

    Capitol Records is one of the most successful and storied American labels in the history of recorded music and the flagship label within the Capitol Music Group. Founded in 1942, the label has recorded and released material by a diverse array of hugely successful and culturally important artists such as The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Sam Smith, Katy Perry and countless others. The company was acquired by Universal Music Group in 2012 and is headquartered in the iconic Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood.

  • Capitol Studios

    Capitol Studios has been a revered mainstay of the recording industry since opening its doors in 1956. The studios have hosted many of the world's most acclaimed artists, such as Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney, The Beach Boys, Nat King Cole, the Beastie Boys and countless others. Perhaps the most famous recording studio in the U.S., Capitol Studios was completely rennovated with state-of-art analogue and digital technology in 2014. Its staff maintains its commitment to sonic integrity and and to fostering an environment of creativity and energy. The studios, including their world-famous underground echo chamber, are a creative beacon for producers, engineers and recording artists the world over.

  • Caroline US

    Caroline is the Independent Services division of Capitol Music Group, providing a full range of label services and revenue streams for Caroline’s artists, releases and label associations on a worldwide basis, including Marketing, Promotion, Commercial Development, Branding, Synch & Licensing, Lifestyle Marketing, Business Affairs and Finance. Caroline is based in Hollywood in the iconic Capitol Records Tower.

  • Deep Well Records

    Deep Well Records is an associated label within CMG’s Virgin Records, headed by Adam Anders, the highly successful producer and songwriter who has sold more than 100 million albums and created music for some of the most successful films and television shows in history.   The first release under this partnership was the soundtrack to the hit Fox television live musical event, The Passion, which includes newly recorded tracks by Seal, Trish Yearwood, Yolanda Adams and Chris Daughtry.

  • Harvest Records

    Harvest Records is home to a select group of innovative artists and employs an independent-label approach that helps them achieve success, while empowering them with the freedom to pursue their artistic visions. Harvest provides dedicated A&R and marketing resources for its artists and integrates its efforts with those of Caroline, which provides commercial support, radio promotion and licensing resources to the label.

  • Metamorphosis Music

    Metamorphosis Music is a new record label founded by Katy Perry in 2014 in conjunction with Capitol Records. Pop singer Ferras became the first artist signed to the label.

  • Motown

    Motown is one the most recognizable and influential brands in popular music. The “Motown Sound” was referred to as “the sound of young America” and the label has played a pivotal role in forever changing popular music, as well as having a significant impact on the fabric of political and popular culture. The Motown legacy continues to this day and is now home to such incomparable artists as Stevie Wonder, Ne-Yo, Erykah Badu, and many others.

  • Quality Control Music

    Quality Control Music (QCM) is a highly successful and influential hip-hop label based in Atlanta which entered into a joint venture with Capitol Music Group, in tandem with its Motown Records label in 2015.  Headed by QCM’s CEO, Pierre “Pee” Thomas and the company’s COO, Kevin “Coach K” Lee, QCM is at the forefront of Urban Music and popular culture.

  • Virgin Records

    For more than 40 years, Virgin Records has been doing the unexpected and supporting the maverick, creative drive of its artists. The label has been home to some of the most groundbreaking and influential artists in music, including Mike Oldfield, Sex Pistols, Massive Attack, and the Spice Girls. In recent years, Virgin has catapulted artists such as Corinne Bailey Rae and Bastille onto the global stage, while continuing to develop exciting new talent with artists such as Eden xo, Ella Eyre, Grizfolk, Los 5, and Seinabo Sey. Since UMG’s acquisition of EMI, Virgin has stood as a pillar of the Capitol Music Group in the U.S., while its British operations were reborn as Virgin EMI Records in 2013.
