Universal Republic Records Signs Debut Artist Erin McCarley
The highly anticipated debut album from Erin McCarley, Love, Save the Empty, will be released October 28 on Universal Republic Records. The record comes at the apex of a breakout year for the songwriter who garnered industry wide-attention at 2008’s SXSW Music Festival. Of the rising artist, Monte Lipman, the President of Universal Republic, says, “Ever since Tom MacKay (SVP A&R) introduced us to Erin McCarley, our world has never been the same. Erin is as authentic as they come. Her passion for music, her love for a great song and her intuitive ability to capture the imagination of her listeners makes her a perfect fit for Universal Republic. The entire company joins me in welcoming Erin to the label.”
Recorded in Nashville, the 11-track album was produced and co-written by McCarley’s longtime friend and collaborator Jamie Kenney. After working on the album for nearly two years, McCarley describes it as “emotional spats and journeys into past, present and future desires. It’s also about dreams, fears, losses, as well as healthy and taboo relationships. Most of the lyrical content is autobiographical with added twists revolving around the experiences of my close ones. I really tried to search within myself and others to find the authentic core.” In addition to Kenney, the album features acclaimed singer-songwriter Greg Laswell a co-writer of the opening track “Bobblehead”. Material on the album is already receiving acclaim, with two tracks, “Pony” and “Pitter-Pat”, featured on episodes of the television show “One Tree Hill.”
McCarley is currently included on the “Ten out of Tenn” tour and will continue to perform this fall with a series of show dates supporting Joshua Radin. In October, McCarley will be featured on the fifth annual Hotel Café tour.
