Casablanca/Universal Republic Records’ breakout star Mika, was nominated for his first-ever Grammy award, pulling down a nomination for Best Dance Recording ("Love Today"). The prestigious 50th Annual Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, on February 10, 2008.

The charismatic singer/songwriter, whose exuberant style and multi-platinum award winning debut album, Life In Cartoon Motion, have won him an unprecedented global following, will be thanking US fans in person come January, returning to the states and Canada in January 2008 with his biggest tour to date. The announcement comes on the heels of Mika’s World Music Awards quadruple-sweep, picking up trophies for Best-Selling New Artist, Best Selling Male Entertainer, Best Selling Male Pop/Artist, and Best Selling British Artist. His album has moved more than 3.5 million copies around the world, making him one of the biggest selling debut artists of 2007.

Mika’s first-ever Grammy nomination also follows the recent raved-about release of his electrifying live DVD, Live In Cartoon Motion, which captures the 23 year old pop sensation at his performing best. A luminous live snapshot, it showcases the singer/songwriter thrilling a sold-out audience of 4,000 fans at France’s famed L’Olympia venue.

Hailed by numerous critics and magazines as one of the ‘Breakthrough Artists’ of the year, Mika has also been featured in branding campaigns by fashion guru Paul Smith, with music from Life In Cartoon Motion appearing in several marketing campaigns, films and TV shows, including the U.S. TV hit Ugly Betty. Celeb-culture blogger Perez Hilton has also frequently touted the charismatic star.
