Capitol Music Group and gener8tor Partner to Launch Music Technology Accelerator
“gBETA Musictech” will kick off this September in Los Angeles, now accepting applications
LOS ANGELES, AUGUST 22, 2018 – gBETA Musictech, a new music technology accelerator program created through a joint partnership between renowned record label Capitol Music Group’s (CMG’s) newly launched Innovation Center, Capitol360,and nationally ranked startup accelerator gener8tor, will launch September 6. Housed in Hollywood’s iconic Capitol Records Tower, home to The Beatles, Beach Boys, Nat King Cole and countless other legendary artists, the program will provide participating startups with mentorship and exclusive access to music industry resources.
gBETA Musictech will operate under gener8tor’s “gBETA” model: a seven-week program requiring no fees and no equity. Five companies will be selected for the program, and they will work closely with successful entrepreneurs, music industry experts, angel investors, venture capitalists, technologists, acclaimed producers, songwriters, and influencers to develop strategies to grow, gain customer traction and pitch investors. Three additional musictech companies will be selected to participate in an existing gBETA program of their choice in one of the following cities: Beloit, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, Madison, Milwaukee, or Minneapolis. These companies will receive the same mentorship and programming without traveling to LA.
“We’re excited to continue building on the momentum of our newly launched Capitol360 Innovation Center, by working with gener8tor to transform the amazing ideas that come out of the Tower into businesses that will help the music industry continue to innovate and evolve,” said Geoffrey Harris, CFO of Capitol Music Group.
Applications for the program are currently being accepted and are open exclusively to startups focused on music technology. This includes technologies related to sourcing, recording, production, distribution, marketing, touring, licensing and streaming as well as any technology or process innovations that could serve any component of the music industry.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with industry icon Capitol Music Group,” said Joe Kirgues, Co-Founder of gener8tor. “As gener8tor seeks to expand into the creative economy with our new music and art programs, Backline and Fellowship.art, and Capitol Music group launches their Capitol360 Innovation Center to work more closely with emerging technology, gBETA Musictech helps bridge all our efforts. We’re thrilled to begin working with the startups helping us cross the chasm into these new ecosystems, and are ready to support them with both our networks.”
