HECTOR ALMAGUER APPOINTED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS AND LEGAL AFFAIRS FOR UNIVERSAL MUSIC LATIN AMERICA

Miami, Florida, October 1, 2007 – Hector Almaguer has been named Senior Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for Universal Music Latin America, it was announced today by Jesus Lopez, Chairman and CEO of Latin America and Iberian Peninsula.

“We are delighted to have an executive of Hector’s caliber join the Universal Music family,” stated Mr. Lopez. “He possesses a real track record of success, and we’re looking forward to his immediate contributions.”

Mr. Almaguer joins Universal Music from Fox Latin America where he served as Director of Business and Legal Affairs. Prior to Fox, he served as a lawyer in private practice, with clients mainly from the entertainment industry. His background also includes a number of Business Affairs positions with Miami-based music companies. Additionally, he is a musician, producer and songwriter. Mr. Almaguer holds a Bachelor in Studio Music & Jazz from the University of Miami School of Music, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. He is a member of the Florida BAR and a voting member of National Academy for Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), as well as an active participant in a number of other industry-related oganizations.

Also being announced is the departure of Tere Batista, who served in a similar capacity. “It was not easy to see Tere Batista leave this post after many years of working together,” added Mr. Lopez. “But we respect her decision to spend more time with her family, are thankful for her many contributions, and wish her all the best.”
