EMI MUSIC PUBLISHING AND UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP FORGE AGREEMENT FOR NEW DIGITAL PRODUCTS IN U.S. AND CANADA

New York, New York, June 14, 2005 - The world's largest music publisher --EMI Music Publishing-- and the world's leading music company -- Universal Music Group -- have reached a broad-based agreement that facilitates the introduction of a wide range of new digital products, formats, distribution platforms and service offerings in the U.S. and Canada, it was announced today by Martin Bandier, Chairman & CEO of EMI Music Publishing, and Doug Morris, Chairman & CEO of Universal Music Group.

The agreement sets the parameters between Universal Music Group and EMI Music Publishing for a slate of new ways to deliver music to consumers, including mobile products (ie, master ring tones and ring backs); digital video distribution, including the exhibition of music videos across a variety of new platforms and services (ie, video-on-demand (VOD) services and video downloads); and DualDisc. In addition, the agreement covers multi-session audio discs and audio "locked" content for hard drives and storage media which consumers may "unlock" by purchasing the tracks or albums online.

"EMI Music Publishing's mission is to put music in reach of fans whenever, however and wherever they want it, and this agreement with the #1 record company and #1 music publisher is an enormous achievement towards that end,” said Mr. Bandier. "Our pact with Universal is good for consumers, artists and our industry overall. It will bring to market a significant amount of content available in these exciting new musical products. It will help artists and our business by facilitating an increased number of piracy-deterrent formats. My gratitude goes to Doug Morris and Zach Horowitz (President & COO, Universal Music Group) and their staff for this accomplishment."

“We are pleased to be working closely with EMI Music Publishing to deliver a new generation of digital musical experiences to consumers,” stated Mr. Morris.
