UMVD HONORS BRUCE BENCH AND THE SEATTLE REGION WITH HENRY DROZ AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN ARTIST DEVELOPMENT
Santa Monica, California, April 24, 2003 -- Universal Music and Video Distribution (UMVD), the U.S. sales and distribution division of Universal Music Group, announced today that Bruce Bench and the Seattle Region are the winners of the Henry Droz Award for Outstanding Achievement in Artist Development ¾ the company’s highest honor.
Each year, UMVD honors one region with the prestigious award, named for UMVD’s late Chairman Emeritus Henry Droz. “The Seattle Region is a shining example of focused teamwork, strategic planning and great execution resulting in extraordinary results. We are very proud of their accomplishments in winning this award,” commented Jim Urie, President, UMVD.
“The award is a direct reflection of the Seattle Region\'s total dedication to artist development,” said Jim Weatherson, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, UMVD. “The Seattle team was instrumental in breaking many Universal Music Group artists in the past year, such as Jack Johnson, Truth Hurts, Blackalicious, India.Arie and Jimmy Eat World.”
