UNIVERSAL MUSIC INTERNATIONAL RELEASES NEXT PHASE OF SUPER AUDIO CD TITLES
LONDON, 12 NOVEMBER 2002 -- Albums by artists as diverse as Andrea Bocelli, Muddy Waters, Diana Krall and Cecilia Bartoli are amongst the highlights of Universal Music International's next Super Audio CD titles, set for release across Europe on 18th November 2002.
UMI's latest SACD releases build on the phenomenal consumer response to the company's debut issues in the format - the 22 critically acclaimed titles comprising ABKCO's The Rolling Stones Remastered series, released in Europe on 21st October 2002 - and follows Universal Music Group's first SACD titles, released in the US on 29th October 2002.
A mixture of best-selling artists and core catalogue titles, a substantial number of these releases will incorporate SACD's multi-channel surround sound:

Classical titles also due for release on 18th November 2002 include:
* Ozawa / Wiener Philarmoniker - New Year's Concert 2002 * Uchida - Schubert - Piano Sonata No.9 * Brendel - Mozart - Piano Concerto * Fischer / Budapest Festival Orchestra - Symphonies No.8, No.9 * Fischer / Budapest Festival Orchestra - Slavonic Dances * Ashkenazy - Chopin - Barcarolle * Cecilia Bartoli - Gluck - Italian Arias * Bryn Terfel - Sings Wagner Arias * Karajan / Berliner Philharmoniker - Beethoven - Symphony No.9 * Anne-Sophie Mutter - Beethoven - Violinsonaten * Boulez / Wiener Philharmoniker - Mahler - Das Lied Von Der Erde * Karajan / Berliner Philharmoniker - Mozart - Requiem
These titles will be followed by further releases in coming weeks, including albums from John Coltrane, Beck, Bon Jovi and Ryan Adams. Andrea Bocelli's new album, Sentimento, will also be released on hybrid SACD before Christmas, showing Universal's commitment to releasing key new albums simultaneously with their CD counterpart.
Dirk de Clippeleir, Director of Technology Implementation at UMI said: "We were very pleased with the reaction from music fans to the Rolling Stones Remastered series, and the next phase of albums released by UMI on SACD look set to emulate that success.
"With many benefits for consumers and artists alike, Super Audio CD is the most exciting development in music since the launch of the CD more than twenty years ago. Consumers will now find Super Audio CD titles from Universal widely available in stores across Europe."
