NASHVILLE, May 19, 2020— Kenny Chesney, award-winning country music singer/songwriter/producer, has signed an exclusive global publishing agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading, global music publisher.

With more than 30 million in album sales worldwide, Chesney has 20 recorded albums, nine of which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s all-genre Top 100. The eight-time Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year also holds the record for most No. 1s on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts with 30 chart-toppers. He is known for “American Kids,” “Get Along,” “Anything But Mine,” “You and Tequila,” “Boys of Fall” and “I Go Back,” among many others.

Here And Now debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 – marking Chesney’s ninth No. 1 album on the chart. The Los Angeles Times hailed “the feel good anthems,” while Variety wrote, “clearly designed to be sung along with in a stadium, it is also strangely satisfying in a lonelier moment” and Entertainment Weekly cited its “romantic wistfulness and regret, battles between rootlessness and structure, a longing to go somewhere, anywhere, everywhere else but also to sit right here with you…”

Said Chesney: “Troy Tomlinson has been part of my creative life since I was a young dreamer hoping to capture some life in songs. To be reunited with him, as well as to work with Jody Gerson and the entire team at Universal Music Publishing inspires me to keep reaching for those same dreams, seeking truly special songs as a writer and an artist blessed to bring other people’s songs to the world, too.”

Troy Tomlinson, Chairman and CEO of UMPG Nashville, said: “I met Kenny when he was 24 years old. He played me 4 or 5 songs in my office on his guitar. I remember the vivid lyrics. I can still recite them today. We have enjoyed lots of success together and lots of fun times and lifelong memories. I am grateful to continue to represent him and his music and look forward to delivering outstanding opportunities through UMPG.”

One of the most awarded artists in modern country music, Chesney has won four consecutive Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year Awards and Male Vocalist of the Year and nine Country Music Association Awards, including four Entertainer of the Year Awards and Album of The Year for the quadruple platinum When The Sun Goes Down. He was also the recipient of BMI’s President’s Award in 2016, recognizing his impact on the entertainment industry.

The only country act on Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years for the last dozen years, Chesney has been deemed “The King of the Road” by The Wall Street Journal. Drawing well in excess of a million people every time he tours, the Los Angeles Times has called the high velocity performer’s stadium-centric, major tours “an annual rite of summer for the devoted fans who call themselves the No Shoes Nation.”
