Nashville, Tennessee, December 11, 2006…Universal South has appointed Fletcher Foster to Senior Vice President and General Manager, it was announced today by Mark Wright, President of the label.

Prior to joining Universal South, Mr. Foster served as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Capitol Records/Nashville where he was instrumental in the break-through success of such chart-topping superstars as Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley and Trace Adkins, among others.

Formerly, Mr. Foster enjoyed tenure at Arista Records, first in their Los Angeles office handling such superstars as Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Barry Manilow, TLC, Kenny G. and Annie Lennox; then at Arista Nashville, where he created and implemented highly successful national marketing campaigns for such artists as Pam Tillis, Alan Jackson and Brooks & Dunn, among many others. His background also includes stints at Sony Music, where he worked alongside the likes of Rosanne Cash, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and the late-Tammy Wynette and Johnny Cash; as well as at MCA Records, where he helped launch rock/alternative band Live to Triple-Platinum-selling success.

While at Arista Nashville, Mr. Foster also served as Executive Producer of the company’s first soundtrack, Miramax’s Happy, Texas. The soundtrack went on to garner two Grammy nominations, and featured an eclectic array of artists, including Joan Osborne, Alison Krauss, Pam Tillis, Emmylou Harris, Keb Mo’ and Kim Richey.

Mr. Foster is a graduate of Belmont University in Nashville and is very active in the philanthropic community. He created and developed the Leadership Music Digital Music Summit which brought to Nashville many of the leaders in new media and technology. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), and the President of the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish of Middle Tennessee. He is on the Board of Directors of Gilda’s Club, Board of Directors of Leadership Music, Board of Directors of MusiCares, and Board of Directors of Leadership Music. In 2001, Mr. Foster was named Belmont Alumnus of the Year and in 2003, he was named one of The Tennessean’s “Top 40 Under 40”. Mr. Foster is currently a member of the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, and NARAS.
