LONDON, 4 JULY, 2003 – Universal Music Publishing has signed two high profile deals with Eminem collaborator Jeff Bass and Depeche Mode front man Dave Gahan. Executive VP for Europe/Managing Director for UK Paul Connolly and VP of International, Kim Frankiewicz completed both deals.

Jeff Bass is without doubt one of the most successful music makers to emerge from Detroit over the past 10 years. As one half of the Grammy Award-winning Bass Brothers, Jeff has co-written and produced the majority of the material on Eminem’s last three albums. His most recent writing/production collaborations with brother Mark Bass & Eminem have generated the massive hits “Without Me”, “Cleaning Out My Closet” and the Oscar–winning “Lose Yourself” from the 8-Mile Soundtrack. In addition, Jeff wrote and produced the majority of songs on D12’s multi-million selling “Devils Night” album, including the single “Purple Pills.”

In a separate deal, Dave Gahan has signed a worldwide deal with UMP. The former Depeche Mode frontman embarks on a solo career for the first time in the band’s 22-year history with the release of “Paper Monsters” (Mute). Led by the release of the single “Dirty Sticky Floors” the album debuted in the Top 10 in Music & Media Euro Top 100. It is currently Top 5 in Germany and remains Top 10 in several other European territories. The album marks Gahan’s debut as a fully-fledged songwriter.
