New agreement includes synchronisation rights for film, TV, advertising

LONDON, March 6, 2006 – Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has signed a new, long-term, exclusive agreement to administer the publishing interests of Sex Pistols band members Paul Cook and Steve Jones, and the estate of Sid Vicious.

The agreement to represent the compositions of these writers include the songs “Anarchy In The UK”, “God Save The Queen”, “Pretty Vacant”, “Holidays In The Sun”, “The Great Rock ’n’ Roll Swindle” and “EMI”, among others.

The agreement was announced today by Paul Connolly, President of Europe/Managing Director U.K. for Universal Music Publishing Group. Connolly said, “Since the Sex Pistols were one of the most influential bands in rock and roll, and that influence lives on, we’re obviously very pleased to conclude this deal during the thirtieth anniversary of the band’s first regular gigs and their first recordings. We’re looking forward to the celebrations.”

Universal Music Publishing Group will administer the catalogue of the Sex Pistols members in the world outside North America. The agreement includes representation for synchronisation licensing for film, TV, advertising and other mediums, and the company looks forward to aggressively promoting the catalogue for worldwide synchronisation opportunities. Cook, Jones and the estate of Vicious are currently represented by Warner Chappell.
