At the 47th Ivor Novello Awards presented Thursday, May 24 in London, Universal Music Publishing Group won 7 awards – more than any other publishing company. Rob Davis, UMP UK co-writer of Kylie Minogue’s international smash single “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” (Parlophone), took home 3 awards: PRS Most Performed Work, International Hit of the Year and the Dance Award. Ash frontman Tim Wheeler took the award for Best Contemporary Song for “Shining Light” (Infectious), and Tim Hawes won Best Selling UK Single for Hear’Say’s “Pure & Simple” (Polydor). U2’s the Edge accepted the award for Best Song Musically & Lyrically for their single, “Walk On” (Interscope). The Swedish song-writing team Benny Andersson & Bjorn Ulvaeus of ABBA were the honored recipients of the Special International Award.
