Lisbon, 27 February, 2003 — A series of new appointments at Universal Music Portugal were announced today by Managing Director Tózé Brito. These take effect from 1 March.

Ana Hernandez has been promoted to the newly created position of Marketing Director at Universal Music Portugal, reporting to Mr. Brito. She was Marketing Manager for the company’s Polydor label division. Ms. Hernandez started her career in 1990 at EMI Spain, where she rose to the position of Product Manager, before joining PolyGram Spain as Marketing Manager, Mercury. Later, she moved to Portugal to fulfil the same position within Polydor.

Miguel Birra and David Benasulin, both previously Product Managers at Universal Music Portugal, have been appointed as Marketing Managers for the company’s Mercury and Polydor groups, respectively.

Ms. Hernandez’ appointment and the reorganisation follows the departure of João Miguel Almeida, Marketing Manager, Mercury. He is leaving Universal Music Portugal after sixteen years to head FAROL, the music branch of Portugal’s leading TV station, TV1.

“I am delighted to promote Ana Hernandez to the new role of Marketing Director at Universal Music Portugal,” said Mr. Brito, “knowing that her experience both here and in Spain will stand her in good stead for the challenges ahead. And while I am sorry to see João leave after sixteen years with the company, I’m confident that his new role at TV1 will suit his considerable talents.”
