UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP’S ADVERTISING AND MEDIA SERVICES DEPARTMENT OUTLINES ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
May 22, 2000, New York, NY–Universal Music Group’s Advertising and Media Services Department has outlined its organizational structure for North America, it was announced today by Leslie Borrok, Vice President of Advertising and Media Services, Universal Music Group.
The Advertising and Media Services Department is responsible for negotiating and placing advertising in all media including television, radio, print, out of home and Internet for Universal Music Group (UMG) and its divisions. This department, part of Common Label Operations, also works closely with Seagram and Universal Studios to maximize efficiency and cost-savings across all companies.

By centralizing our advertising and media efforts we have become more efficient and effective; both the media representatives and our record labels benefit from the streamlined structure.”
Reporting to Ms. Borrok are Allyson Guglielmi, Senior Director, West Coast; Susie McMurry, Director, East Coast; and Quincy Ballon, Manager, Special Projects.
As Senior Director, Advertising and Media Services, West Coast, Allyson Guglielmi is responsible for overseeing the media planning, budgeting and buying for all West Coast based labels distributed through UMG including A&M, DreamWorks, Jimmy & Doug’s Farm Club, Geffen, Hip-O, UTV, Interscope, and MCA Records, as well as the UMG divisions of eLabs, Universal Music Enterprises (Los Angeles office), and Universal Music and Video Distribution. Additionally, she is responsible for working closely with media planners and the company’s labels and divisions to develop promotions and value-added programs designed to leverage all advertising efforts.
Ms. Guglielmi was formerly Director of Advertising and Merchandising, MCA Records where she was responsible for the planning and buying of trade and consumer advertising. She also oversaw the scheduling, printing and selling of MCA merchandise. Prior to that, she was an Account Executive at Meade Ullman Advertising. Ms. Guglielmi received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications from Pepperdine University.
As Director of Advertising and Media Services, East Coast, Susie McMurry is responsible for overseeing the media planning and buying for all East Coast record labels distributed through UMG including DreamWorks Nashville, Island Def Jam Music Group, MCA Nashville, Mercury Nashville, Universal Classics, Universal/Motown Records Group, and The Verve Group, as well as the UMG divisions of Global e and Universal Music Enterprises (New York office). She is also responsible for working closely with label marketing staffs to implement and execute value-added programs and promotions.
Ms. McMurry joined PolyGram in 1989, starting as a Marketing Assistant at PolyGram Classics and Jazz before moving into the position of Media Planner at PolyGram Advertising. Following that, she was promoted to Manager of Advertising. In that role, she oversaw the daily operations of the planning staff and handled the media planning and buying of priority projects. Ms. McMurry graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
As Manager, Advertising Special Projects, Quincy Ballon is responsible for researching and analyzing non-traditional advertising opportunities for UMG labels and departments, negotiating advertising contracts and serving as the liaison between the East and West Coast Offices. He also serves as the editor of the department’s monthly newsletter.
Mr. Ballon’s previous position was Media Planner, Advertising at PolyGram. Mr. Ballon started his career at BBDO Worldwide as an Assistant National Television Buyer, moving on to become an Assistant Media Planner at BBDO before joining PolyGram. He is a graduate of Saint Peter’s College with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management.
