UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP SIGNS MUSIC DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WITH REDDOTNET
Coral Springs, FL, June 19, 2000 – RedDotNet, a leading provider of network and information services, and Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s largest music company, today announced that they have entered into a licensing agreement for digital distribution of Universal Music’s catalog into retail stores nationwide via the RedDotNet proprietary system.
The RedDotNet system is a high-speed network connecting retailers to the company’s digitized content servers via in-store stations, which enable consumers to preview in-depth information about music, enjoying streaming media (including sound samples and music videos) and ultimately purchase music. The stations are equipped with real-time manufacturing capabilities which can burn existing albums from the Universal catalog in CD format as well as print cover graphics and liner notes.
