Los Angeles, CA, June 6, 2011 – Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD), the award-winning sales and marketing division of Universal Music Group, has promoted Mike Jakary to Vice President of Label and Field Marketing. The announcement was made today by Candace Berry, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Universal Music Distribution (UMD), to whom Mr. Jakary reports. Formerly, he served as Senior Director of Label and Field Marketing for UMGD.

In this expanded role, Mr. Jakary will lead the marketing efforts of all of UMGD’s owned and associated label groups, including all field and college marketing initiatives. He will act as the distribution company’s main label marketing contact and all of UMGD’s Directors of Label Marketing will continue to report to him.

“Mike is a talented, tenacious and creative marketing executive with a real track record of success,” stated Ms. Berry. “His breadth of knowledge and digital marketing expertise make him the ideal candidate to lead the label groups during this exciting time for the industry.”

Mr. Jakary began his career at the company as a Field Marketing Rep and was quickly promoted to Artist Development Rep. He later became Director of Artist Development and moved to UMGD’s home office where he was the label liaison for Universal Motown Republic Group.
