Santa Monica, CA, June 15, 2011 – Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD), the award-winning sales and marketing division of Universal Music Group, has appointed Adam Zelinka to Senior Vice President of Marketing & Product Development. The announcement was made today by Jim Urie, President & CEO of Universal Music Group Distribution, to whom Mr. Zelinka reports.

In this role, Mr. Zelinka will spearhead the company’s direct-to-consumer, direct marketing, consumer relationship marketing and product development initiatives. He will work closely with UMGD’s owned and associated label groups to drive and support their consumer directed marketing and e-commerce strategies. 

“Adam is an innovator, an entrepreneur and a veteran of marketing in the digital space,” stated Mr. Urie. “He brings a  wealth of knowledge, experience and a proven track record of success that complements our existing strategy and will help keep UMGD’s labels and artists at the forefront of the digital landscape. I’m very pleased to have him joining the UMGD executive team.”

Mr. Zelinka has a wide variety of experience in digital and consumer marketing and has held executive positions at various labels, including GRP and Zomba/Jive. He was VP of Site Programming for the award-winning online music content and e-commerce company N2K/Music Boulevard, and was General Manager of Music for the marketing and media company YouthStream Media Networks. Most recently, he was the founder of the consulting agency Fanatical Marketing, LLC in NY, where he worked closely with Sony Music Entertainment,, eMusic, Dimensional Music Publishing, and many other companies on strategic partnerships, new business, and direct-to-consumer offerings.
