UNIVERSAL MUSIC AND VIDEO DISTRIBUTION NAMED DISTRIBUTOR OF THE YEAR BY NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF RECORD MERCHANDISERS (NARM)
Santa Monica, California, March 21, 2001 – Universal Music and Video Distribution is Distributor of the Year as named by the National Association of Recording Merchandisers, it was announced at their 43rd Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida.
This award, given by members of the association, honors outstanding distinction and achievement in areas of communication; employees and employee programs; marketing and promotion; standard of business dealings; order fulfillment; shipping and handling; support of industry programs and events; and awards and achievements received in the last twelve months.

This award from NARM marks a highly successful year for UMVD, which was just named Major Distributor of the Year by the Transworld Corporation this week. The company was also named one of Best Buy’s Vendors of the Year. In addition, UMVD was named Distribution Company of the Year by the Retail Panels of both the Album Network and Urban Network Magazines.
UMVD recently made history for the year 2000 by becoming the first company ever to achieve the No. 1 position in the top five market share categories of Current Albums, Overall Albums, Singles, R&B Albums, and Country Albums according to SoundScan.
