Under the agreement, its recently formed DVD division, UMVD Visual Entertainment, will distribute titles from Xenon.
“We’re excited to have Xenon as one of our key brands for Urban and Latin audience titles, and are committed to further developing their leadership position in the marketplace,” stated Jim Urie, President of UMVD. “We are particularly looking forward to the fourth quarter opportunities for the new film “A Day Without A Mexican.”
“This is a great strategic fit for us,” added Leigh Savidge, President of Xenon. “UMVD is the leading distributor of Urban and Latin music, and we’re thrilled have their muscle at retail behind us.”
As America’s first video company dedicated to films for Urban audiences, Xenon has led the independent market in this genre. Their Urban repertoire includes such star power as Angela Bassett, Oprah Winfrey, Cicely Tyson and Tupac Shakur, while their catalog encompasses action/drama, comedy, gospel, documentary, concerts, martial arts, and Spanish Language features.
