UMG ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS FOR GLOBAL DIGITAL INITIATIVES
New York, NY- September 3, 2008 -David Ellner, Executive Vice President of Universal Music Group’s Global Digital Initiatives (GDI) division, today announced several new appointments. Fred Santarpia has been promoted to Vice President of Operations and Finance, JP Evangelista has been appointed Digital Project Manager and Rebecca Klie has been named Account Manager.
“Fred, JP and Rebecca have all made significant contributions since they joined GDI and they are ready for greater responsibilities and challenges,” said Mr. Ellner. “Fred is an outstanding executive who has been an integral part of the progress we’ve made thus far, while both JP and Rebecca have quickly proven themselves to be superb team players. Their promotions are well deserved and I’m thrilled that we are able to expand GDI by promoting from within the department.”
Based at UMG’s global headquarters in New York, Mr. Santarpia will report to Mr. Ellner and Ezra Doty, Senior Vice President, GDI. In his new role, Mr. Santarpia will be responsible for the expansion and operation of UMG’s digital media business, focusing on online advertising, media sponsorship and video syndication. He will work closely with UMG’s label divisions to launch and optimize advertising campaigns and digital products for artist and label websites. He will also evaluate new business ventures and initiatives, as well as be responsible for finance and accounting for the division. He was most recently Senior Director of Finance for GDI.
Before joining GDI, Mr. Santarpia was Director/Controller of EquaTrax. He previously held senior roles in the UMG Global Finance, and Global IT organizations. Prior to that, he was Finance Manager of Techspace Inc., a start-up technology company. He began his career in the audit practice at Arthur Andersen LLP. He received his MS in Finance from Boston University and graduated with a BS in Accounting from Villanova University.
JP Evangelista has been promoted to Digital Project Manager and will report to Brent Hunter, Director of Product Development. He will work closely with Mr. Hunter to develop new digital products for UMG’s portal site and will also oversee the site’s maintenance. He previously was an executive assistant in the department and graduated with a BA from NYU.
Rebecca Klie has been promoted to Account Manager for GDI, reporting to Ezra Doty, Senior Vice President of the division. She will help plan and execute advertising campaigns and also assist in product development for GDI’s websites. She was previously an assistant in the department and graduated with a BS from Ithaca College.
