Universal Music Group Releases Additional Super Audio CDs in 2003
Santa Monica, California, January 10, 2003 – Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s largest music company, today announced it will release “The Police Greatest Hits – Every Breath You Take: The Classics” in hybrid SACD stereo/SACD surround sound/ CD audio as part of the campaign to help celebrate The Police’s long anticipated induction into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Additionally, the entire Police catalog (Outlandos D’ Amour, Regatta de Blanc, Zenyatta Mondatta, Ghost in the Machine, Synchronicity, and The Police Live) has been remastered and is being released simultaneously on SACD Stereo and CD.
UMG also plans on continuing its ongoing Super Audio CD program throughout 2003, by making a combination of best-selling artists and core catalog titles available in the U.S. and other major regions worldwide. A substantial number of these releases incorporate SACD’s multi-channel surround sound.
During 2003 UMG will have a regular slate of SACD releases. In the coming months major artists will have their newest albums released in the SACD format. This includes: Peter Gabriel -Up; The Roots – Phrenology; The Wallflowers – Red Letter Days; and Three Doors Down – Away From The Sun. Peter Gabriel is releasing his entire catalog on SACD in stereo (1, 2, 3, Security, Plays Live, Birdy [OST], Passion: The Last Temptation of Christ [OST], So and Us). Universal Music Group has already released SACD titles from other artists such as Andrea Bocelli – Toscana; Beck – Sea Change; Bon Jovi – Bounce; Diana Krall – Look of Love; and Natalie Cole – Ask a Woman Who Knows, among others.
