T-MOBILE ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH UNIVERSAL MOBILE
t-music channel of t-zones mobile data portal will include Universal Music mobile services
London, 4th March 2003 — T-Mobile, one of the world’s leading mobile communications companies, has partnered with Universal Mobile, the mobile entertainment services subsidiary of Universal Music International, to market exciting new music content across the t-zones portal in major European markets.
The agreement with Universal Mobile is just one of a series of strong partnerships being announced on 4th March by T-Mobile, as part of the next stage of its portal t-zones strategy, covering hardware, software, content and service innovations. T-Mobile already has over 12 million t-zones customers across five European markets, with 5.5 million users visiting t-zones last month.

T-Mobile users will be able to enter the t-music channel on their t-zones portal and download the latest international and local polyphonic ringtones or logos, send the latest songs as a greeting and shortly will be able to access to videoclips extracts from Universal Mobile. In an industry first, T-Mobile users will be able to view, via MMS, images of artists and their latest albums.
T-Mobile and Universal Mobile will roll services out in line with the pan European advertising t-zones campaign, beginning April 4th. Both parties will actively target specific promotions to its core target segments to encourage usage of mobile music services.
Universal Mobile provides many mobile users across Europe with a ‘mobile’ music channel that offers new ‘programmes’ and content on a daily basis. As soon as there is a new song or news about a Universal artist, Universal Mobile subscribers are the first to hear about it.
The music mobile market continues to be a huge market across Europe. Analysts put the Western European market value of downloads, such as ringtones and logos, at €1.2bn for 2002. It is estimated by Universal Mobile that, in 2003, European consumers will buy 100 million downloads of mobile phone greetings/dedications and 150m downloads of ringtones. Forty-five percent of the European mobile user market are young adults for whom music-related content is the most compelling premium mobile service.
