NEW YORK, NY, September 23, 2005 – Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company, has promoted Susan Povich to Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs for eLabs, UMG’s new media and technologies division. The announcement was made today by David Ring, Senior Vice President of Business Development & Business Affairs, eLabs. Previously, Povich served as Senior Director for eLabs, negotiating agreements for digital and wireless distribution of UMG repertoire, as well as agreements for new revenue streams for existing repertoire. She will continue to be based in UMG’s New York City offices and report to Ring.

Her contributions to eLabs and UMG have been invaluable over the years,” stated Ring. “We look forward to her continued expertise in negotiating partnerships and other agreements for eLabs and it is our pleasure to expand the playing field for her even further with this well deserved promotion.”

Prior to joining Universal four years ago, Povich worked with Russell Simmons on his Internet venture,, as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Business Affairs. She previously headed her own firm, Povich Kelly Associates, P.C., and as such was a pioneer in the legal representation of Internet companies.

Povich received a BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from Harvard University.
