Santa Monica, California, September 19, 2007 – Universal Music Enterprises (UMe), the centralized U.S. catalog division of market leader Universal Music Group (UMG), has promoted Sujata Murthy to Senior Vice-President of Public Relations, it was announced today by Mike Davis, General Manager, UMe.

In her new role, Ms. Murthy will be responsible for overseeing all publicity campaigns as well as artist relations for UMe projects. Working in conjunction with all of the company’s record labels, Ms. Murthy will oversee the catalogs of artists such as Nirvana, Johnny Cash, BB King, The Police, Elton John, The Who, Bob Marley, and Cat Stevens. In addition to catalog artists, she will also be responsible for campaigns for New Door Records, UMe’s front-line label, with such artists as Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, William Tell, Billy Bob Thornton, Marty Stuart, Joe Cocker, and Raul Malo. She will continue to be based in Santa Monica.

“Publicity is a crucial element in our strategy to market the world’s leading music catalog. This is an important role and Sujata’s accomplishments here have earned her this elevation to senior vice president status,” stated Mr. Davis.

Most recently, Ms. Murthy was Vice-President of Public Relations for UMe. Prior to joining UMe, Murthy performed many similar duties at EMI Music Distribution and Capitol Records, concentrating on brand management for the label’s cornerstone artists such as Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Beach Boys, Nat King Cole, Al Green, and Dean Martin.

A native of Madras, India, raised in Los Angeles and Houston, Murthy graduated from the University of Texas, Austin.
