New York, New York, August 22, 2005– Shanti Das has been appointed Executive Vice President of Marketing & Artist Development for Motown Records and Senior Vice President of Urban Marketing for Universal Records, it was announced today by Sylvia Rhone, President of Motown Records and Executive Vice President of Universal Records.

“Shanti brings with her a unique repertoire of executive skills buoyed by her tremendous insight into the changing complexities of the marketing arena,” stated Ms. Rhone. “Her excellent rapport with artists and her tenacious ability to initiate multiple, groundbreaking marketing campaigns from conception to execution makes her an invaluable asset to the Universal Motown team. The entire company joins me in welcoming Shanti to the label.”

Previously, Ms. Das was Senior Vice President of Marketing for Sony Urban Music, working with such artists as Prince, Nas, Vivian Green and Omarion. In 2001 Ms. Das was Vice President of Urban Marketing for Columbia Records where she helped develop projects for Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label, including Bow Wow, Jagged Edge and Jermaine Dupri, among others.

In 2000, Ms. Das was Senior Director of Urban Marketing for Arista Records, working with Outkast, among others. In 1996 Ms. Das was appointed to LaFace Records’ Marketing Department, working closely with Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds and LA Reid, where she helped develop artists such as Outkast, Goodie Mob, Usher, TLC and Toni Braxton, among others.

Ms. Das is a Graduate of Syracuse University (1993) with a Bachelor Of Science Degree, where she also became Assistant Promotions Director of the college radio station, WJPZ, as well as working as a promotions assistant for Capitol Records, while still a student at Syracuse.
