Santa Monica, California, November 24, 2003 — Shane A. Maidy has been named Vice President of National Sales for Universal Music and Video Distribution, it was announced today by Mike Davis, Senior Vice President, Sales, Universal Music and Video Distribution (UMVD).

Based in Universal City, Mr. Maidy will oversee the mass merchant retail accounts for UMVD, including, Anderson Merchandisers, Best Buy, Costco, Handleman Entertainment, Kmart, Target and Wal*Mart.

“Shane has extensive experience in brand development, working with such products as packaged goods, apparel, toys and video games. He brings a fresh sales perspective to our industry and will be a tremendous asset to UMVD,” commented Mr. Davis.

Most recently, Mr. Maidy directed the category sales management team for Brand Sense Marketing, a sister company to NASCAR. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Business Development at internet e-commerce provider,, selling the company’s services to major entertainment clients such as MTV, Playboy, ABC, Sony Pictures and Fox Family Worldwide. Mr. Maidy founded Insight Marketing, a full-service marketing agency specializing in licensing, sales and business development. He has also held executive positions with J. Walter Thompson, Marvel Entertainment Group and O.S.P. Publishing Inc.

Mr. Maidy received a B.A. in international relations from the University of Southern California, and his M.B.A. from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business Management.
