(November 11, 2005 – New York, NY) Rick Sackheim has been appointed Senior Vice President, Promotion, Island Def Jam Music Group, it was announced today by Greg Thompson, Executive Vice President, Promotion, Island Def Jam Music Group. In this new position, Mr. Sackheim will oversee all radio formats, in addition to overseeing the field staff. Mr. Sackheim, who will be based in Los Angeles, will report directly to Mr. Thompson in New York.

Mr. Sackheim joins IDJ from Jive Records, where he served as Vice President, Rhythm/Crossover Promotion, since April 2004, following his five year tenure as VP Rhythm/Crossover Promotion at Arista Records. He came to Arista as Senior Director, Rhythm/Crossover Promotion, after three years at Restless Records in Los Angeles, where he held positions of increasing responsibility since 1998, and rose to Vice President of Promotion. Prior to that, he spent a year at 911 Entertainment, in the same position. He began his career in 1991 with a four-year stint on the National Promotion staff of Scotti Brothers Records, followed by a year on the National Promotion staff of Private Music. Mr. Sackheim graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, with the Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.
