MELANNE MUELLER APPOINTED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, UNIVERSAL MUSIC CLASSICAL
New York, New York, June 5, 2007 – Christopher Roberts, President, Universal Music Group International, Classics & Jazz announced today that Melanne Mueller is joining Universal Music Classical as Senior Vice President, effective June 1st. Based in New York, Mueller will oversee U.S. marketing, new media, publicity and promotion for Universal Music Classical artists and releases.
Melanne Mueller comes to Universal Music Classical from Avie Records in London, an independent record company she co-founded and acted as Managing Director for since 2002. Avie’s unique business model has earned accolades in the classical industry, and has been the home of both top line and developing artists, including the acclaimed Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony, the late mezzo soprano Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Trevor Pinnock and The English Concert, early music ensemble Phantasm (winner of a 2004 Gramophone Award), pianist Luiza Borac (winner of a 2007 BBC Music Magazine Award) and Semyon Bychkov/The WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln among others. Prior to her tenure with Avie, Mueller was head of BMG’s Classical International Marketing Department based in London, after spending four years in their New York office in various capacities, including Director of Media Relations. Her experience at BMG encompassed campaigns for such notable artists as Leontyne Price and Van Cliburn.
