LOS ANGELES, Tuesday, September 15, 2009 – Max Gousse has been appointed Senior Vice President, A&R, Island Def Jam Music Group, it was announced today by Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.

In his new position, Mr. Gousse will be charged with seeking out and signing new talent to the rosters of IDJ and its affiliated labels, including artists, producers and songwriters. In carrying out his duties, Mr. Gousse, who will be based in Los Angeles, will report directly to Mr. Reid.

“Max brings a wealth of experience in A&R, artist management and music publishing to his new job,” said Mr. Reid. “His success in each of those extremely competitive and challenging fields makes him the perfect choice to take the reins of IDJ’s entire range of A&R activities on the West Coast.”

Mr. Gousse comes to IDJ from Music World Entertainment, where he served as Exec¬utive Vice President, A&R and New Business Development, from 2006-2008, and supervised Beyoncé’s multi-platinum albums Bday and I Am Sasha Fierce. Prior to that, Mr. Gousse spent two years as the company’s Senior Vice President, A&R. He began his career in music in 1998, as Senior Director, MCA Music Publishing. He joined Epic Records as Senior Director, A&R, in 1999, and the following year was promoted to Vice President, A&R. In 2002, he moved to Sanctuary Management as Senior Vice-President.
