New York, New York, March 27, 2006 – Machete Music, the first full service, start-up label from a major record company dedicated to the burgeoning Latin urban music market, has appointed David Junk to General Manager, it was announced today by Gus Lopez, President of the company, and Jesus Lopez, Chairman of Universal Latin America & Iberian Peninsula.

He’s a true entrepreneur whose management skills and international experience will be critically important to Machete and its artists in the years to come.”

Prior to joining Machete, Mr. Junk served as Managing Director of Universal Music Russia. Formerly, Mr. Junk worked for PolyGram Russia – the first western record company to establish a subsidiary in the country – in 1995. He was promoted to Managing Director in 1999, and in 2003, after the merger between Universal and Polygram, extended his management responsibilities to include Universal Music Group International’s licensees in the former Eastern Bloc.
