Karen Kwak has been named Senior Vice President, A&R Operations, Office of the Chairman for The Island Def Jam Music Group it was announced today by Antonio “LA” Reid, Chairman of The Island Def Jam Music Group. Ms. Kwak, who will work directly with Mr. Reid, will manage all of the operational duties of the A&R departments, which includes the administration of all A& R related affairs for the Island Def Jam Music Group and its affiliated labels. In addition Ms. Kwak will head the Def Jam A&R department and have full responsibility for all of the creative and operational aspects of the department.

Ms. Kwak comes to the The Island Def Jam Music Group from Arista Records where she most recently served as Senior Vice President, A&R Operations and Administration. Prior to joining Arista Records in 2000, Ms. Kwak served as Vice President, A&R Administration at LaFace Records in Atlanta. Ms. Kwak began her career at Motown Records in 1991, and over the next eight years held jobs of increasing importance. She was Vice President, A&R Administration at Motown prior to joining LaFace in 1999.
