Universal City, California, August 3, 2001 — Jim Weatherson has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Universal Music and Video Distribution, it was announced today by Jim Urie, President, Universal Music and Video Distribution (UMVD).

Based in Universal City, Mr. Weatherson will oversee all marketing and sales functions within North America.

“Jim’s contribution to the impressive success we have had at UMVD made him a natural choice for his new role,” commented Jim Urie. “His long-standing career with Universal and tremendous contributions make this a well deserved promotion.”

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Weatherson served as Divisional Vice President, Central Division for UMVD in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Weatherson has served in various sales and management positions at UMVD during the past 15 years, including Branch Manager, Sales Manager, and Sales Representative.

Most recently during Mr. Weatherson’s tenure as Divisional Vice President, his work within the Central Division contributed to UMVD’s unprecedented success. In calendar year 2000, Universal had 67 albums that sold over one million units each (12 of which sold over three million units). UMVD also held the No. 1 position on the “Billboard” Top 200 Album chart for 21 weeks in 2000 (over 40% of the calendar year).

Previously Mr. Weatherson served in various sales and radio promotion positions at Pickwick International for eight years.
