JIM ROPPO PROMOTED TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, SALES, ISLAND DEF JAM MUSIC GROUP
(October 19, 2006 New York, NY) – Jim Roppo has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Sales, Island Def Jam Music Group, it was announced today by Steve Bartels, president, Island Records & COO, Island Def Jam Music Group. In this new post, Mr. Roppo will develop, manage and guide all activities related to IDJ’s Sales, Retail Marketing and Alternative Street Team/Lifestyle forces. He will propose and execute policies and programs to achieve maximum sales volume for all releases. Mr. Roppo will be based in New York.

Mr. Roppo has served as Vice President, Sales, Island Def Jam Music Group, since February 2005, following a five year stint as Regional Sales Director for IDJ, based in Minneapolis. During that time, he was named Label Sales Rep of the year, UMVD Central Division, for 2001. Prior to IDJ, he spent two years as National Account Manager, Polygram Group Distribution, starting in 1997. He began his career in music in 1988 at Aron’s Records in Los Angeles. Mr. Roppo attended Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, where he graduated in 1987, with the Bachelor of Arts degree International Relations.
