August 16, 2004, New York, NY – Heath Kudler has been promoted to Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs, Island Def Jam Music Group, it was announced today by Steve Gawley, Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs, Island Def Jam Music Group.

In his new position, Mr. Kudler will be responsible for negotiating and drafting contracts and advising the various departments throughout the company with respect to any legal issues or questions. Mr. Kudler, who is based in New York, will report directly to Mr. Gawley.

“Heath is an invaluable member of our business affairs team,” said Mr. Gawley. “His strong internal and industry relationships, coupled with excellent business affairs skills, make him a key player for us. This promotion is well-deserved.”

Mr. Kudler has served as Senior Director, Business and Legal Affairs, Island Def Jam Music Group, since June 2001. Prior to that, he worked in the Business and Legal Affairs department at PolyGram / Universal-affiliated labels for nearly a decade, having first served as a legal intern during his final year of Law School, starting in 1995. Upon graduation in 1996, he spent the next six months as a Legal Consultant, followed by one year as a staff attorney. In January 1998, he was appointed Associate Director, Business and Legal Affairs, and was promoted to Director the following January, which post he held for the next two and a half years. Mr. Kudler graduated from Long Island University C.W. Post in 1992, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn School of Law in 1996. Mr. Kudler is a member of the New York State Bar.
