Top MTV strategist takes newly created business development role

LONDON, April 18, 2006 – Stepping into a newly created post within the world’s largest music company, Harriett Brand has been named Senior Vice President, Business Development, for Universal Music Group International (UMGI), based in London.

The appointment was announced today by UMGI Chairman and Chief Executive Lucian Grainge, to whom Brand will report. Universal Music Group International is a division of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s largest music company.

Harriett Brand is joining Universal Music after 13 years at MTV, where she was most recently Senior Vice President of Music for MTV Networks International in London. During her tenure, Brand played a central role in the development of the MTV Europe Music Awards and of many of the influential broadcaster’s music channels, among other accomplishments. Previously, she held a number of senior posts at EMI in the U.S. and Europe.

The post which Brand will be taking and shaping will encompass key aspects of UMGI’s new programme of business development, with particular emphasis on fostering fresh links and alignments with current and prospective partners around the world.
