GEORGE MAROLDA APPOINTED CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER FOR UNIVERSAL MOTOWN REPUBLIC GROUP (UMRG)
New York, New York, February 19, 2008 – Universal Motown Republic Group (UMRG), a division of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company, has appointed George Marolda to Chief Financial Officer for the label group, it was announced today by Mel Lewinter, Chairman of UMRG.
In this role, Mr. Marolda will be responsible for all financial functions of UMRG, including planning, forecasting, reporting and deal analysis. He will work closely with Monte Lipman (President, Universal Republic Records) and Sylvia Rhone (President, Universal Motown Records), and will oversee human resources, information technology, marketing administration, recording administration, and office services for the company.
“Since joining us, George has displayed leadership in a variety of key financial situations that have helped build UMRG into one of the industry’s leading label groups,” stated Mr. Lewinter. “He has been involved on all areas of our company and continues to be an asset to our employees, artists and business partners. Mr. Marolda joined UMRG in 1999 as Senior Director of Finance and was promoted to Vice President of Finance for the label in 2001. Before that he was Vice President of Finance for PolyGram Video, and has held various financial positions at EMI Music Publishing and Next Plateau Records. He started his career at David Berdon LLP as an auditor.
Mr. Marolda earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Pace University and is a certified public accountant.
