BERLIN/LONDON, February 18, 2013 – Max Hole, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group International, today announced that Frank Briegmann has been appointed President of Central Europe.  Briegmann will become Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Germany and, in addition to managing Switzerland, Austria and Deutsche Grammophon, his region will expand to cover Eastern Europe and the Nordic countries.  Based in Berlin, he will also join UMGI’s International Management Board.

Under Briegmann’s leadership, Universal Music Germany has become the undisputed number one in the market, with an enviable track record of delivering impressive results for both international and local artists.  He and his team have built the company into an A&R powerhouse, which is home to top selling artists including Adoro, David Garrett, Ich+Ich, Lena, Max Herre, Rea Garvey and Unheilig, to name but a few.

Max Hole commented, “I‘ve worked closely with Frank for many years and he shows calm authority and cool judgement in everything he undertakes.  He combines business acumen with an instinctive understanding of artists and their ambitions, and will bring new energy and focus to all of the countries in his region.”

Frank Briegmann stated, “I want to thank Max Hole and Lucian Grainge for their continued trust and support.  I’m looking forward to my new responsibilities and to developing an even closer cooperation with my colleagues in Northern and Eastern Europe, particularly with our fantastic artists who are at the heart of everything we do.”
